When: Saturday, Dec 5th 9:00am

Moapa Valley NWR volunteers have expressed interest in field trips to explore the full site and learn more about its natural history and history.  Fellow volunteer, Bruce Lund, has been doing field work in the area for over a decade and invites other volunteers to enjoy a series of hikes to share our knowledge of its plants, animals, geology, and human history.

The first field trip will be on Saturday, December 5, starting at 9 am at the Refuge parking lot and ending there at noon.  Bring a lunch so we can share thoughts and ideas after the walk.  Wear appropriate footwear for easy to moderate off-trail walking. Bring snacks and water, and long pants and hats are recommended.  Certainly your favorite field gear (binoculars, cameras, etc.) is welcome – as are field notebooks to jot down the gems of knowledge that will flow from one another (really!).

Volunteers from the other local US Fish and Wildlife Refuges (Desert NWR, Ash Meadows, and Pahranagat) are invited as are interested family and friends.  Indeed, this is a great time for people who are thinking about volunteering to come along and get a taste of what being a Refuge volunteer is like so they can decide if they would like to make a commitment.

Children are welcome too, but please understand that while this is meant to be enjoyable, it is an interpretation/education “training” experience for Refuge volunteers first and is not organized to entertain children.

PLEASE CONTACT BRUCE LUND if you are planning on attending and let him know how many others will be coming with you.  Email at blund-AT-mvdsl.com or phone at 702-865-2808.
